At 43 years old, Joyce Olivares faced a life-threatening health crisis that led to her admission to Houston Methodist Baytown in critical condition. There, doctors determined she was battling multiple conditions, including the flu, pneumonia, diabetic ketoacidosis, septic shock, and acute respiratory failure. To save her life, Joyce required emergency intubation and even CPR. Despite a poor prognosis, her family refused to give up hope.
